Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU) has opened its online application for the 2024/2025 academic year. MoCU was officially established on September 4th, 2014, evolving from the Moshi University College of Co-operative and Business Studies (MUCCoBS). The institution's roots go back to January 5th, 1963, when it began as the Co-operative College Moshi, aimed at training personnel for the co-operative sector under the Ministry of Co-operatives and Community Development. In 2004, the college was upgraded to MUCCoBS as part of Sokoine University of Agriculture.

Campus Life at MoCU:

  • Religious Freedom: MoCU ensures that students and staff have the freedom to worship. Facilities for various denominations are within walking distance, and spaces are available on campus for religious activities upon request.

  • Health Services: The university provides health services at its Moshi Health Centre and Kizumbi Teaching Centre, supported by full-time medical officers and nursing staff. Serious cases are referred to regional hospitals.

  • Sports and Games: MoCU offers various facilities for sports, including a stadium that accommodates multiple sports like volleyball, basketball, football, and more. The university participates in local and international competitions and encourages students to stay active.

  • Catering Services: Catering is provided by approved service providers, and students can purchase meals on a cash basis. Cooking in residence halls is not allowed.

  • Accommodation: Students can either live in university hostels or find private accommodation nearby. Priority is given to students with disabilities, foreigners, and first-year students.

  • Postal and Banking Services: MoCU provides postal services on campus and has an ATM available for banking needs. Various mobile banking services are also accessible.

  • Student Loans and Scholarships: Most students are privately sponsored, with some receiving loans from the Higher Education Students Loans Board (HESLB). While the university does not offer scholarships, students are encouraged to seek funding through other avenues.

MoCU’s primary goal is to advance knowledge and promote research and consultancy in cooperative development, rural transformation, business studies, ICT, law, accounting, and finance. The university is located in Moshi, Kilimanjaro Region, along Sokoine Road, with a teaching center in Shinyanga and regional offices across Tanzania.
