TRA Online TIN Number Registration in Tanzania

Tanzanian TRA TIN Number For taxation purposes, people and companies in Tanzania are granted a unique identifying number known as the TRA TIN, or Taxpayer identifying Number. The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), the national authority in charge of tax administration, is the one that issues it. Since it facilitates the tracking of tax responsibilities and compliance, the TIN is crucial for persons and companies involved in business, investments, or employment.

In Tanzania, people and organizations must apply for a TIN within fifteen days of starting any kind of job, investment, or commercial venture. Penalties, including fines and jail, may arise from noncompliance with the Tax Administration Act’s TIN requirements.

Types of TIN In Tanzania:

Non-business TIN:

This particular TIN category is not connected to a person’s income and is usually required for things like getting a driver’s license.

Business TIN:

A person’s or an entity’s income from work, business, or investments is connected to their business TIN.
It is crucial to remember that a single TIN cannot be shared by several organizations or endeavours, nor can an individual possess more than one TIN. A person’s TIN can be changed from non-business to business if they started out with a non-business TIN and then started doing business.

It is required of enterprises to have the TIN certificate prominently displayed on the property. Notification of any modifications to the TIN details must be sent right away to the TRA Commissioner General.
