For the 2024/2025 academic year, the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) invites qualified applicants to apply for its undergraduate and postgraduate programs. UDSM is offering a diverse range of 88 undergraduate and over 189 postgraduate programs, leading to certificates, diplomas, bachelor’s degrees, postgraduate diplomas, master’s degrees, and PhDs. To get started, applicants can access detailed instructions by downloading the Undergraduate or Postgraduate Admission Procedures Guidebook from the UDSM website.

Applicants must use the names as they appear on their Ordinary or Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education when registering. For those with foreign certificates, verification through the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) is required. They must upload the verification documents alongside their other certificates. Similarly, those with equivalent qualifications should obtain a unique verification number from the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) and use it during their application process.

For postgraduate applicants with foreign qualifications, certificate verification is required through the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) before joining UDSM. Once your application is processed, you will be informed of your status via the email address you provided. If offered a place, it is essential to confirm your acceptance through the UDSM Online Application System (UDSM-OAS). Failure to confirm your admission could result in your spot being given to another candidate.

For international applicants, ensure you meet the minimum entry qualifications before paying the non-refundable application fee of USD 45. Detailed bank information for fee payment is available on the UDSM website.

The entire application process for UDSM 2024 will be conducted online. Prospective students should familiarize themselves with critical dates, entry requirements, and the selection process to enhance their chances of being admitted.

Once your application is submitted, the UDSM selection committee will review it against the course-specific entry requirements. Successful applicants will be notified through the official UDSM website and via the contact details provided during registration.

If you are selected, it’s crucial to confirm your admission online using the special code provided by TCU. Confirm your acceptance by logging into your UDSM admission account and following the instructions. Once confirmed, you will need to pay the required tuition and other related fees according to UDSM’s guidelines.

Important Dates to Remember:

  • Application Opening Date: The online application portal usually opens in early June, allowing ample time for preparation.
  • Application Closing Date: The deadline is typically in mid-August, so ensure your application is submitted on time.
  • Admission Announcement: Successful applicants are usually announced by the end of August, giving them time to prepare for the academic year starting in October.

Entry Requirements:

To be considered for admission into UDSM’s bachelor’s degree programs, applicants must meet specific criteria depending on the course of study. The recognized entry schemes include direct entry for Form Six holders, those with Ordinary Diplomas or equivalent qualifications, and holders of a Foundation Certificate from the Open University of Tanzania. For postgraduate programs, a recognized bachelor’s degree is mandatory. Meeting these entry requirements does not guarantee admission but makes you eligible for consideration.
